Doris Magsaysay Ho, President and CEO of Magsaysay Group, joined local and international maritime leaders at day 3 of the CrewConnect Global 2024 last November 14 at Shangri-La The Fort, Taguig City. Organized by Seatrade Maritime, Doris was part of The Big Debate, an exciting first for the CrewConnect conference.
As a key speaker, Doris participated in the parliamentary-style debate, which centered on the motion: “This house believes AI will transform crewing and the role of seafarers within the next five years.” Assigned as the second speaker of the opposition team, Doris delivered a seven-minute argument, emphasizing the importance of human expertise and the challenges of AI integration in a people-driven industry. The debate was marked by strong and passionate arguments from both sides as they represented their teams.
The three-day conference covered the state of the maritime industry, advancements in communication and technology, and seafarer welfare and training. This annual event, acknowledged as the biggest seafaring conference in the world, brought together hundreds of suppliers, crewing experts, and industry executives to discuss new developments and difficulties facing the global maritime industry.
