Magsaysay and MOL to Provide More Opportunities for Filipino Workers in Japan



The Magsaysay People Resource Corp. (MPRC) and Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL) eye the deployment of more Filipino workers to Japan, as its joint venture company, MM Empower, officially commenced its first global HR consulting project.

MM Empower aims to connect skilled Filipino workers with Japan-based companies as the latter face difficulties in hiring enough personnel. Currently, it has a partnership with Osaka Gas Co., Ltd, which provides opportunities for Filipino plumbers to go to and work in Japan.

Despite the many challenges of operating under a community quarantine, the joint venture has been holding online recruitment and has already begun Nihongo and skills training for 19 plumbers destined for the gas industry.

MM Empower will leverage on MPRC’s decades of experience in manpower recruitment, training, and placement, as well as the lengthy and fruitful working relationship between MPRC and MOL. The two have partnered since 1993 in providing training programs for seafarers through the Magsaysay Institute of Shipping. They also jointly established a Dasmariñas, Cavite-based maritime academy, MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA) in 2018.
