Corporate Social Responsibility
MAGSAYSAY CARES
The Homer Foundation is a non-stock, non-profit corporate foundation founded by Magsaysay to address the unique social and economic development needs of Filipino seafarers and their families as well as less privileged communities in areas where seafarers live.
Magsaysay’s corporate social responsibility programs for seafarers and their families include; the Disaster Response Program that helps seafarers and their families in times of calamities; Savings Program that helps seafarers save and acquire a home, have enough money for the college education of their children, and build enough capital for a business or investment and a comfortable retirement; Magsaysay Chorale that underprivileged but musically gifted public school students in Manila; regular Blood Donation that helps save lives; and Coastal Bay Clean-Ups that promote the cleanliness of our water resources and contribute to the preservation of our marine environment.
For its excellence in social responsibility, Magsaysay was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility Award by the prestigious Seatrade Asia Awards in 2011.
In July 2010, Magsaysay was also awarded the “Asian Corporate Communications Award” at the Asian Publishing Awards for “Magsaysay WE CARE- A Disaster Response Program”, a communication program during typhoon Ondoy which assisted more than 17,000 families. Magsaysay is the first Philippine company to receive this award.
