The Nautical Institute Officially Accredits DP Training Program by MOLMAT, MAAP, and MTC

July 15, 2025

To elevate the global competitiveness of Filipino seafarers, MOL Maritex Co., Ltd. (MOLMAT), the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), and Magsaysay Training Center (MTC) are working together to offer Dynamic Positioning (DP) training that meets international standards. Following a successful accreditation by the Nautical Institute (NI) on July 7 to 8 at the MAAP Campus in Bataan, the new DP training center is set to officially launch on July 29.

This partnership brings MOLMAT’s experience with DP systems and MAAP’s simulator facilities into one accessible training pathway. While DP courses have been available locally, many seafarers have faced cost and accessibility barriers. This initiative offers a high-impact, value-driven alternative—one that prioritizes world-class instruction and career readiness.

The program includes courses for various levels—from induction and simulator training to revalidation, refresher, and sea time reduction modules. DP Vessel Maintainer (DPVM) is also part of the curriculum.

Aligned with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ (MOL) offshore wind development strategy, this move supports the region’s renewable energy growth and sets the stage for a skilled and future-ready maritime workforce across Asia.

By making accredited DP training more accessible, MOLMAT, MAAP, and MTC underscore their shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and workforce empowerment — ensuring that Filipino seafarers remain a vital force in global maritime operations.
