POEA GBR NO. 26 Series of 2014: New Guidelines on Limits of High Risk Areas and Benefits due to Seafarers

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has issued a memorandum declaring the new high risk areas/zone designations and the benefits due to the seafarers as adopted from the new guidelines issued by the International Bargaining Forum (IBF).

From High Risk Area status, the new agreement downgrades the Internationally Recognized Transit Corridor (IRTC) within the Gulf of Aden to Extended Risk Zone status due to the decreased possibility of piracy attack in the Gulf of Aden.

With the new agreement, the POEA Governing Board has decided to adopt new guidelines on the limits of the high risk areas and the benefits due to the seafarers. The resolution shall apply to all seafarers effective 01 October 2014.
