MIHCA's Ube Dessert Got Featured at "Best Desserts" Book



Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) Baking & Pastry Instructor, Chef Joan Pineda’s Ube Halaya Cheesecake with Ube Truffles is included and on the book cover of Inquirer Lifestyle’s Best Desserts 5. 

MIHCA team was very overwhelmed and thrilled to receive the certificate during the launching event held last June 3 at SM Aura Premier in Taguig City. MIHCA’s booth was a huge hit. Chef Joan’s masterpiece was inspired by her mother’s holiday tradition to give ube delicacies as Christmas gifts and ube is always present during their Noche Buena.

“Best Desserts 5” showcased the Filipino talent and flavors–120 desserts by 90 dessert makers— a mix of chefs, home bakers, hotel professionals, restaurant owners. The book held a rigorous screening process where the author, Vangie Baga-Reyes, had the opportunity to meet and evaluate each candidate and find the best dessert makers. The privilege of being selected and included on this prestigious book, and recognized as one of the country’s best chefs and bakers is a great achievement. The whole MIHCA team is truly honored to be part of it.
