Korean trainees with the management team of Magsaysay and JR Edu

The Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) held the graduation of its pilot trainees under the program “Cruise and Hospitality Program for Korean Candidates" last July 27, 2017 at Robert Hall, Times Plaza Building, Manila, Philippines.

The program is in line with MIHCA’s partnership with JR Edu Ltd., a professional recruitment company based in South Korea that arranges pre-employment trainings to certain Korean candidates aspiring for a career in the global cruise and hotel industries. The Cruise Manpower Training Program started last July 3 and ran for four weeks, in which 21 Korean candidates underwent intensive training to enhance their technical skills aligned with cruise lines and hotel operations. The program covers topics such as Housekeeping Operations, Food and Beverage Operations, Front Office and Reservations, Personality Development, and Front and Office Operations.

The graduation ceremony was attended by JR Edu’s Sehee Lee, President; Jennifer Lee, Director; Jemma Roh, Training Manager; and Chi Hong Park, Overseas Business Manager; and MIHCA’s Paolo Guevara, President. Magsaysay Maritime Corporation’s Nori Leonidas, Cruise Group Head, was the keynote speaker and shared an inspirational message to the graduates.

With the success of the pilot class, a series of training has been scheduled within the year to accommodate more Korean candidates who are interested to learn about the skills and knowledge required for the hospitality industry.

A member of Magsaysay People Resources Corporation, MIHCA is now at the forefront of producing job-ready professionals in the fields of hospitality, tourism and culinary arts in the ASEAN region. MIHCA has four campuses in the Philippines—Mandaluyong, Manila, Makati, and Cebu—and a campus in Jakarta, Indonesia. MIHCA’s actual real-life workplace settings prepare the students for their deployment into the world’s largest cruise lines, five star hotels, resorts and tourism operations.
