Germany’s Leading Cruise Line, AIDA Cruises, Continues its Effort to Support the SOS Children’s Villages Philippines

Successful candidates together with the representatives from AIDA Cruises, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation and SOS Children's Villages Philippines

May 18, 2017 – AIDA Cruises, a member of the Costa Group, in partnership with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), conducted an all-exclusive interview session to former children of SOS Children's Villages in the Philippines to offer seagoing career opportunities. The exclusive screening was held at Times Plaza Building, Manila, Philippines.

SOS Children’s Villages is a non-government organization aiming to provide the necessities of abandoned and orphaned children until formal college education and enabling them to live independent lives. Since 2005, AIDA Cruises has been a benefactor to various SOS Children’s Villages around the globe.  Together with its onboard passengers and guests, AIDA Cruises has donated more than 1 Million Euro to support the social development organization.

One of the successful candidates, Nancy Alalad from SOS Children’s Village-Cebu was overwhelmed when she was accepted as F&B Assistant Steward. Alalad was very grateful to have received shelter from the SOS family.  With the support of the organization, she finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and was able to work as a waitress for more than 4 years in the Middle East.

The candidates were accompanied by Noemi Encinares, SOS Children’s Villages representative while Imke Mecke, AIDA’s Senior Recruitment Manager Fleet, spearheaded the interviews of the applicants who had completed hospitality-related courses.  Furthermore, a presentation was facilitated during the event highlighting AIDA Cruises as Germany’s Top Employer Awardee

More than 3,000 Filipino hotel and technical professionals are currently deployed by MMC onboard the 12 AIDA cruise ships.​
