Ariston Navigation Holds 3rd Seafarers’ Conference and Christmas Celebration and Service Awards

Recipients of the Special Awards with representatives from Ariston and Magsaysay

Ariston Navigation Corporation, in coordination with Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), held the 3rd Ariston Navigation Seafarers’ Conference last November 21 to 23, 2016 at the Times Plaza Building in Ermita, Manila.

The event gathered together 43 officers to discuss different issues related to ship operation today. The session speakers were Panagiotis Katsivardelos, Crew Manager of Ariston; George Livanos, Technical Manager of Ariston; Panagiotis Karavias, Deputy DPA of Ariston; Captain Dimitrios Delasoudas, Operations Manager of Ariston; Antonios Xylas of the Ariston Operation Department; Captain Joselito J. Navales, Cluster HR Director of MMC; and Captain Ernel A. Lanuzga, Fleet HR Manager of MMC.

Following the three-day conference, the annual Crew and Family Christmas Celebration and Service Awards was held on November 24. 167 crew and their families from all over the Philippines attended the event where special awards were given to outstanding seafarers.

The Remarkable Event of the Year award was given to Captain Joel Roel Malacad and Crew for the successful delivery of the United Nations World Food Programme’s cargo to Berbera, Somaliland.

The Career Development Award was given to Third Engineer James Gardose and Third Officer Christian Acupido, whose careers started as cadets in the company in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

And lastly, the Best Port State Control Performer of the Year Award was given to Captain Doque Cordero, Captain Jonathan Casas, Chief Engineer Arthur Genson, and Chief Engineer Benjamin Gonzales, Masters and Chief Engineers of MV Abtenauer, for the zero deficiencies rating of the vessel during the PSC inspection.

The awards were presented by Captain Dimitrios Delasoudas, George Livanos, Antonios Xylas, Marlon R. Rono, Executive Chairman of MMC, and Arnold B. Javier, President of MMC.
