Costa’s Here for You Training Produces 110 Graduates

25 Commis de Cuisine Professional Course graduates with Costa, MMC, and MIHCA executives and instructors

Costa Crociere S.p.A. recently hosted a celebration to acknowledge the achievements of the 110 trainees who completed the Here for You Training Program. Held last August 3, 2016 at the Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) campus in Manila, Philippines, this batch is considered to be the largest number of graduates produced since the program’s implementation in 2007.

This batch was composed of 25 trainees for the Commis de Cuisine Professional Course; 20 for the Assistant Waiter Professional Course; 19 for the Crew Restaurant Steward Professional Course; 25 for the Snack Steward Professional Course; and 21 for the Orientation for Casino Cashiers, Tailors and Adult Animation. The training programs were taught by MIHCA and Costa instructors including Chef Vill Avendaño, Mel Urbano, Fe Tatsayanonchai, Joe Acuña, Tristan Babol, Aileen Viray, and Alile Villarente.

Andrea Tonini, Head of Asia Shipboard Hotel Training of Costa, started the program with his welcome address and assured graduates that all Costa trainings are aligned with the company’s new campaigns, “Here for You” and “Italy’s Finest.” He also encouraged the future Costa crew members to be consistently professional, efficient and knowledgeable of their duties onboard. During the ceremony, graduates also performed musical and dance numbers that made the event more fun and entertaining.

Joining the graduates in the said ceremony were Arnold B. Javier, President of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC); Alexander E. Querol, President of Magsaysay Learning Resources, Inc.; Chef Paolo S. Guevara, President of MIHCA; Nori M. Leonidas, Cruise Group Head of MMC; Cheryl Faith M. Cordura, Fleet HR Director of MMC; and Ferdie R. Carlos, Hospitality Program Manager of MIHCA.

To date, Costa’s training programs have produced 10,618 graduates, many of whom occupy positions in Housekeeping, Food and Beverage, Galley, and Culinary onboard Costa cruise ships.

A member of the Magsaysay People Resources Corporation, MIHCA is at the forefront of training and producing job-ready professionals in the fields of hospitality, tourism and culinary arts.
