CarePoint Clinic Marks its First Anniversary by Awarding 10,000th Patient

Chief Officer Allen Talavera with the CarePoint Clinic and MAGCOOP Team

CarePoint Medical, Diagnostic and Wellness Clinic, the medical facility established and operated by the Magsaysay Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAGCOOP), celebrated its first year anniversary by recognizing its 10,000th patient.

Chief Officer Allen Talavera, Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC) deployed crew for Kyla Shipping Enterprises Corporation, came in for his Pre-Employment Medical Examination on July 27, 2016 not knowing that he was to be recognized as the clinic’s 10,000th patient. Chief Officer Talavera was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation and a year-long free medical consultation by Dr. Jason Valdez, CarePoint Clinic’s Medical Director; Arnold B. Javier, MAGCOOP Board Member and MMC President; and Rommel V. Villasfer, MAGCOOP Operations Manager.

During the awarding, Dr. Jason Valdez reiterated the clinic’s mission of educating MAGCOOP members—seafarers, employees and their families—on the importance of making their health a priority and said, “Since our opening, we have served 10,000 patients, many of whom are seafarers who are safely navigating our seas. As we move forward, our members can be assured of more health education fora, anti-hypertension programs, HIV awareness campaigns and other activities to keep health awareness top of mind.”

The establishment of CarePoint Clinic was aimed at addressing the health and wellness needs of MAGCOOP members by providing them with quality, yet cost-effective, healthcare services.
