AIDA Cruises and MMC Visit SOS Children’s Village in Iloilo

Representatives from AIDA Cruises and MMC at the SOS Children’s Village-Iloilo


Iloilo City, Philippines – Representatives from AIDA Cruises, the leading German cruise line, and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), visited the SOS Children’s Village last February 1, 2016.


Imke Mecke, AIDA Cruises’ Senior Manager for Recruitment and Walter Kuhnert, Training Manager for Asia were joined by MMC's Abigail Berenguer, Fleet Director for AIDA; Joyce Ruiz, Fleet Manager for AIDA; and Fatima Agabe-Harder, MMC Iloilo Branch Manager. They had the opportunity to learn more about the institution as well as interact and play with the children. They also gave away toys as gifts.


The visit was part of AIDA’s long-standing relationship with SOS Children’s Villages. Since 2014, AIDA has donated more than 200,000 euros to the SOS Iloilo Social Center and Youth Facility. AIDA Cruises continues to support the social development organization, SOS Children's Villages.


The SOS Children’s Village in Iloilo is home to 97 orphaned children. The village has 12 houses accommodating children who come from different places in Panay and Negros Islands. SOS also supports 43 other young boys and girls aged 14 and above who are living in separate facilities.
