Costa Conducts Train the Trainer Program for Crew and MIHCA Instructors

Executives from Costa Crociere S.p.A, one of the world’s largest European cruise ship operators, visited the Manila campus of Magsaysay Center for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (MIHCA) last January 18-22, 2016 to conduct the week-long Train the Trainer program. In attendance were Andrea Tonini, Head of Asia Shipboard Hotel Training; Filippo Bertuzzi, Corporate Director of Food and Beverage Operations; Chef Fabio Cucchelli, Corporate Manager of Culinary Operations; and Edoardo Grasso, Corporate Restaurant Manager. 

Andrea Tonini and Filippo Bertuzzi introduced the marvels of Italian attitude and cuisine in line with Costa Crociere’s latest campaigns, “Here for You” and “Italy’s Finest.” Chef Cucchelli, a Michelin Star Chef, trained MIHCA’s Culinary Instructors and Costa’s newly-hired cooks on how to prepare the dishes of the cruise line’s reinvented Italian regional menus, while Edoardo Grasso taught restaurant instructors and personnel on how to serve the dishes with a professional attitude and a genuine smile.

The visit is in preparation for the upcoming delivery of the Cruise Ship Catering and Services International N.V. Stabile Organizzazione Italia (CSCS) shipboard personnel training program in Manila, Philippines. On January 5, 2016, MIHCA signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CSCS, a member of Costa Crociere S.p.A. The agreement calls for a joint undertaking to organize, establish, deliver and maintain a CSCS shipboard personnel program at MIHCA.​
