Magsaysay Completes Reconstruction of Day Care Center in Leyte

Magsaysay Maritime Corporation (MMC), through its corporate social responsibility arm, Homer Foundation, Inc. (HFI), and Mill Hill School of London, completed the reconstruction of the Guinsaugon Community Day Care Center in the town of Saint Bernard, province of Southern Leyte, Philippines.

The turn-over ceremony was conducted last January 9, 2016 and was attended by Marlon R. Roño, President of MMC and HFI; Engr. Amelia B. Unajan, Project Supervisor of Masaya Realty Co., Inc.; representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development; and local community leaders.

The Guinsaugon Community Day Care Center was originally constructed in 2006 as HFI’s response to help rebuild the Guinsaugon Village, an area that was badly hit by a massive landslide. To continuously provide a good-quality learning facility to 43 pre-school children who are attending the center, HFI and Mill Hill School of London extended support for its repair and rehabilitation in 2015.
